**************************************************************************** * Help Channel Application Guidelines * * * * version 1.2 12 August 2005 * **************************************************************************** Read carefully and make sure you fulfil the guidelines before you fill in the application. Also read the help channel rules at http://help.dal.net/faqs/HelpChannelGuidelines.txt before you apply so you fully understand what is expected from the channel and its staff upon a pass. A. Ground Rules 1. The proposed channel must have been registered for 6 months under a single founder's nickname. 2. The channel must have a base of users and staff. 3. The channel must serve a need that is not served in whole or in part by any other network-owned or recommended help channel. 4. The founder and staff must have abided by all network rules, regulations, and policies without exception uptil now and continue to do so in the future. B. Application Process 1. The founder of the channel must submit the application to HC@DAL.net, incomplete applications will be discarded unread. 2. The HC will review the application and verify that the channel meets the criterion in section A. 3. On passing the above, the HC will monitor the channel for one month. 4. The HC will then make a final decision concerning the channel. 5. The HC's decisions on help channel application is final, there is no appeal or recourse. 6. A help channel may reapply in 6 months, provided the channel was not declined for reasons of duplication (channel duplicates the function of another help channel). 7. The Help Committee reserves the right to decline any application. C. Charter 1. After passing the above process, the channel will complete a channel charter. 2. The charter will contain a clearly defined mission, as well as a defined training and promotions schedule, and channel rules for both users and staff. 3. Once submitted, the HC will review the charter. 4. If the charter is approved, the channel will be granted recommended status. D. Monitoring 1. The channel will be monitored in a probationary period for one month, after which full status will be afforded. 2. The channel will be monitored under the normal HC schedule for the duration of its status.
